After imprinting my hands in the clay, most of what I have left to do is in carving the heart from what is remaining. In this case the formal design of the piece is very important because it should be immediately recognizable.

 A couple class periods ago I made this box which I have since covered in duct tape in order to make it as water resistant as possible. There is a technical aspect to this kind of art which is relatively new to me. I have not previously had to build separate components for a piece which will not be seen or appreciated, but it's still an important part of the crafting process.
